Well, nothing regarding a decreased wait or anything, but the next best thing :O) We have just been notified of a new fee structure that will be effective July 30, 2007. Basically the long story short is that we will be able to re-apply for our fingerprints, which will expire before we are able to travel, without any associated USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) fees and THAT means we save at least about $800, nice!
One of the frustrating things about the increase in the wait is that many of our documents are going to expire, and to renew these costs money even though the original documents are untouched. We are willing and able to deal with this but it does not mean we are happy about it, just part of international adoption! So, needless to say we are more than pleased with this little bit of good news!
Other than this, not much else is new as far as the international program. The wait has extended to 19-20 months but there is "talk" that more orphanages will be able to participate in the program, which would obviously mean more children would be available to adopt. We are 4 months into our wait, as of June 6th, (Happy Birthday, Heather!)
I will keep updating our blog with the adorable and beautiful fabric squares we are receiving and for those who think it may be too late, it is NOT, so please send them on in!! Take care and more soon, The Walker Family
